Why Twenty (20) Taters?

When I was really little, I LOVED potatoes (aka taters). They were my favorite thing to eat, hands down, and I wanted them every meal! Also, being little (I think I was 3, maybe 4) I thought 20 was the biggest number in the world, certainly the biggest number I'd heard of, so whenever I wanted to express a giant quantity of something I used the number 20. (Later, when I was in Junior High I discovered that not every child thinks 20 is a huge number. I babysat for a little boy whose greatest joy was getting to watch "The $50 Man" on TV before he went to bed!)

The story goes that one day I walked up to my mom and in my little toddler voice declared with all the gusto I could muster,  "Mommy, I love you 20 taters!!". This, of course, meant that I loved her more than all the taters I could stuff in my little ruddy cheeks and that was a LOT of taters! I still love my mom 20 taters.

This story, and the saying "20-Taters" has become a symbol of love in my family. Yes, it's a little weird (so is my family) and yes, it is a bit corny (ahem...yep, that describes us, too), but it has significant meaning to me and since this blog is going to be about things that I love and subjects that delight my heart I want to use a term that also delights my heart.

To the rest of my family and friends who are such an important part of my life I love you 20 Taters!
